Rocky Steps, Miracle Sightings"

The Journey Church launched in New Lenox on February 13, 2011 as a PAC (Parent Affiliated Church) from South Texas, with CMN.   We launched with a team of 30, family and friends, after five months of preparation.  We held our first services in The Hub, a Christian Community Youth Center. We invested in their ministry by building platforms, a sound booth, providing equipment, and making other repairs. Little did we realize that six years later, after two different locations as a portable church, we would reap the blessings from our giving to the youth center, as they have relocated and The Journey Church acquired the space as our permanent location.  During the past eight years, we have watched God lead us every step in this process of church planting.  To be honest, it is not an easy process!  The steps are often steep and rocky, but the miracles along the way are God sightings! 

We have served the community by feeding and clothing the homeless, helping those in need, and presenting ourselves to the world as authentic, real people who care about others. That includes supporting missions both locally and around the world.   Our greatest growth has come through investing in individual lives of those hurting.  It is during those times we are able to share the love of Jesus Christ.  One example is of a young man and woman needing community service hours because of alcohol and drug addictions.  We loved them, prayed for them, went to court with them, and showed then the power of Jesus’ love to transform their lives.  Today, two years clean from drugs and alcohol, they have accepted Christ, been baptized, are members of The Journey, serve on volunteer teams, and use their story to invite others who struggle with additions to The Journey.  They are trophies of God’s amazing grace!  

Easter Sunday 2019 we opened our new Journey Kids Auditorium and lobby.  Over the last two years we have acquired four warehouse units as our own leased space. We are continually transforming these units to allow for growth in our children’s area.  We renovated the office into a nursing mom’s room, and expanded into multiple age appropriate kids environments. The median age in New Lenox is 37.1 with 49% families with kids under 18.  We desire to reach New Lenox with the love of Jesus.  The Journey Church strives to be a place of healing filled with God’s grace and truth!
